THE BIG GAME

This summer, we collaborated with New York artist, Tom Russotti on "THE BIG GAME", working with young people from  "Fuse 1318" Theatre Workshop in Nelson.

"Fuse 1318"  established The Nelson Institute of Sport, an organisation with an "elite" team of athletes dedicated to inventing new and unusual games.

The young people not only created new sports but devised Institute "characters".   The project took part in the Olympic Open Weekend, encouraging the public in Nelson to take part in new street games and culminated in THE BIG GAME on 28th July, a tournament where players from N.I.S took on teams including Nelson Police and the staff of Barnardos as well as other Blaze groups from across Lancashire.

A combination of theatre and sport, the project was awarded the official 2012 Olympic Inspire mark.
